The International School of Helsinki is a private school operating on the basis of tuition fees. The school receives grants from both the Finnish and the US governments; however, these grants cover only a portion of the school's annual expenses.

Please note that students of Pre K, K1 and those in K2 who will not turn six years before 31.12. and have municipality of residence in Finland are likely to be eligible for KELA private day care support. The amount of KELA support depends on your family income. Due to legislation effective 1.8.2016, families where one or more guardians is not working must fill in an additional application form for the municipality in which the student resides. The Application for Helsinki residents can be found here, and the Application for Espoo residents can be found here. Please note that having one parent at home may influence eligibility for full time kela day care support.
Detailed Instructions for all families applying for full time private day care support can be found here.
Kela support payments will be paid directly to the school account. The school will then credit the full amount against your tuition fee invoices. Full time daycare support averages around 500 €/month/child.
