ISH is conveniently located to the south of the centre of Helsinki in an area called Ruoholahti. You can walk to the centre in under twenty minutes. Our school has excellent links to the metro, which is two minutes away. There are bus and tram routes that make it an accessible destination from anywhere in the city or from Espoo, a neighbouring residential city where many of our families live. Adjacent to the school is the area called Jätkäsaari. This old port and warehouse area is being rapidly developed into a high quality residential area with excellent green spaces and leisure facilities.
We are in a five-storey facility, which comfortably houses our student population of just under 400 students. We completed an extension project in 2012 and are continually updating our teaching spaces to keep them current. We have a full-size gym onsite and a large 'cafetorium', which we use for serving lunch and also as a performance space. There is a large and well stocked library in the heart of the facility. We have three purpose-build science labs, a design lab, art studio and music room. There are special rooms for learning support, counseling support and also a large meeting space for drama and assemblies.
The school uses a full-size AstroTurf pitch close the school for sports and games. We rent other nearby facilities for specialized sports, like swimming. The school has the use of an impressive neighbourhood auditorium for the school play and our high school graduation.
Please come and see our facilities for yourself. We do rent out our premises to outside groups on an agreed basis. Please contact the front office if you wish to inquire about renting.
