  3. Minimally two full years of teaching experience post degree and certification (PYP, MYP and DP experience preferred). This is applicable to teaching positions.

Science Lab Tech Job Announcement

The International School of Helsinki is seeking to employ a part-time Science Lab Technician for the Upper School Science program. The ideal applicant works in partnership with science teaching staff to provide effective learning experiences for students at ISH. Under general direction and instructions, the Science Lab Technician is expected to perform tasks associated with the efficient operation of the science laboratory. They exercise significant initiative and works independently with little supervision. Excellent organization skills are required. The lab technician also perform duties as directed by the Science SAL and prepares laboratory requests from science teaching staff. The ideal applicant should have or be willing to obtain Red Cross First Aid, and have knowledge of current Finnish Health and Safety regulations and CLEAPSS. A degree in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science with experience working in a laboratory setting is required. A teaching degree and teaching experience with grade 6-12 students is desirable. Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English. Cleaning and Maintenance Team Member

The position is part of the Facilities Team and reports to School Facilities Manager and Business Manager. His/her main area of responsibility is maintaining and improving the cleaning of the school on a daily basis present.

Desired education, experience and qualifications:

Good knowledge of cleaning
General aptitude for practical skills
Good level of general fitness
Friendly customer service approach and helpfulness
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Finnish
Sensitivity to an international environment

The position is part time, 4 hours a day / 5 days/week, during full school days. The position is a job alternation leave and maternity leave replacement and will last from 1.8.2019 until 31.7.2020. Usually work time will be in the afternoon starting 17:00 o'clock. In a year there will be approximately 180 full school days and the days will be known one year in advance.

The substitute recruited for the duration of the job alternation leave shall be a person who has been registered with the TE Office as an unemployed jobseeker. A person may be recruited as a substitute, if he/she has been registered with the TE Office as an unemployed jobseeker for a minimum of 90 days during the 14 months preceding the substitution or is under the age of 30 and has recently graduated with a vocational or higher education degree or is under the age of 25 or over the age of 55 at the start of the job alternation leave.
